AGM and Discussion
Join us at our Annual General Meeting and an update on what the Wicklow Craft Foundation have been doing.
Thanks to incredible efforts by County Wicklow Partnership, more than €50,000 has been secured through the LEADER Rural Development Programme for the development of craft in Wicklow. There will be a discussion on WCF’s plans for implementing the Wicklow Craft Strategy, from 10:30 to 12:00, followed by a brief AGM for those who are members of the Wicklow Craft Foundation.
Topics
There will be a grass-roots discussion on the development of a Digital Craft Trail.
It is proposed that the launch for the craft trail will take place before the end of 2023.
With this in mind, we need direct involvement from the Craft Community to determine the correct ‘criteria’ for participation and inclusion in the craft trail. A presentation will be made by Evelyn Murray, LEADER Rural Development Officer from the County Wicklow Partnership (https://www.wicklowpartnership.ie/) . Evelyn will provide a detailed account of the significant funding that has recently been secured for the development of craft in Co. Wicklow, and she will outline the landmark projects that will be completed in two phases: the first by the end of 2023, and the second by the end of February 2024.
The first phase of spending will include the following exciting project initiatives:
1. An upgrade to the existing Wicklow Craft Foundation website which will broaden the capacity of the site so that it can cope with additional members information and the inclusion of the Craft Trail.
2. The creation of the Craft Trail itself.
3. Professional product shots for a limited number of qualifying participants of the Craft Trail.
4. Six videos of professional craft practitioners. It is proposed that these videos will be used on the WCF website, and also be distributed to secondary schools for educational purposes.
5. The development of a Library Education Programme of 26 lecture/demonstrations to be delivered to seven county libraries. This programme is to be presented by craft practitioners who will receive payment for their involvement.
6. To employ the services of a Social Media expert to advertise all of the above.
The investment of €50,000 to support the development of craft has been secured through the LEADER Rural Development Programme and is co-funded and supported by Wicklow County Council and County Wicklow Partnership, to implement the first steps of the Wicklow Craft Strategy 2023-2027 If you would like to attend, please let us know by signing up using the link below.
